Bayern Munich battled Inter Milan in Madrid in a clash of the giants where the winners would be crowned the European Champions League Champions.
The location - Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid.
The prize – To be crowned Champions of Europe!
The first half saw José Mourinho's Inter Milan go into the break 1-0 after a typical smash and grab raid on the Bayern Munich goal.
Diego Milito was the scorer yet again after finding the back of the net in all three knock-out rounds for Inter Milan to gave the Serie A Champions the lead in the 35th minute.
After the break the antes were upped and the action started to really flow. The 66th minute saw an fantastic curling effort from Robben which was heading for the top corner but was tipped over by Cesar in an acrobatic display at full stretch. Both sides continued with devastating attacks on each goal mouth but were unable to change the scoreline until the 70th minute.
Again it was Milito that scored for Inter Milan, scoring his 30th goal of the season, taking advantage of a counter-attack from Nerazurri and Eto. The pressure was now fully on Bayern who needed to pull something special out of the hat to get back in the game.
It wasn't to be though and after 90 minutes and an additional 3 for stoppage time, Inter Milan won their third European title and their first since 1965.
As Inter Milan's fans celebrated in jubilant style, Bayern's were somewhat dejected by their teams overall performance and with having their title hopes crushed.
Final Score - Internazionale 2 - 0 Bayern München
